The main character Amir got a phone call from his fathers old friend Rahim Khan telling him he had to fly across the country to him because he had to change what he did in the past and make up for it. When Amir got there he finds out the Rahim Khan is dying, that Hassan was actually his brother and also that Hassan and his wife just got killed recently. This puts Amir in shock from learning so much information and he thinks back to what he did in the alley and how that now he knows Hassan was his brother it makes it so much worse. Rahim Khan tells Amir that there is a way to make up for it thought, Hassans son is at an orphanage in Kabul and he wants Amir to go back there and get his son and bring him to Rahim. Amir almost doesn't do it because he's scared he'll get killed but in the end he ends up making the trip and going to get Hassans son. We can relate the Kite Runner to almost everyone's life, sometimes we don't stand up for what is right and we just watch things we know shouldn't be happening happen because we don't know how to stop it. For example at school when theres fights in the hallway almost everytime the students gather around and watch it happen instead of trying to break it up like Amir did to Hassan.
