This week we spent the whole week reading our books and trying to finish them, we read silently in the library and this week I spent most of the time trying to stay focused. I learned this week that after reading for a long time it starts to look like a movie in my head and I love it when that happens. I learned that if your reading a book you can't just read it you have to comprehened it too, you have to understand whats going on so you can relate to it. The Kite Runner is so crazy, it's a really sad book and I probably never would've picked it out for myself but I really like it, I've learned a lot from it that I wouldn't have otherwise. I learned about what it's really like in other countries and how terrible some people have it and it makes me really sad thinking about all of those kids in those situations. I'm glad that we've had so much time in class to read our books because it's nice to be able to just relax and go into the world of your book, I really hope this book ends happily because so far the whole thing is just sad and I never want to start reading it because it's depressing but it's also really moving. When I first started reading it Amir made me so mad because how couold he just sit and watch Hassan get hurt like that but then when we related it back to our own lives and how we sit back and watch and video tape people who fight at school I realized I kind of do the same thing. My word for this week is focus because we really had to focus all week on our books and pay attention.
