To start writing a comparative essay first you need to analyze the question carefully and figure out how you're going to answer it. Plan out ahead, you can make a bubble map to help you, or just write bullet points to get your thoughts onto paper. Always make sure that your idea will match what you were instructed to write about, try to keep every point you make on topic. After you do that, you have to pick 2 things that have both similarities and differences, and have enough that you can compare them well. An example of that are two sports teams or systems of government, you can compare them in many and will find a lot about them when you search it on the internet. Once you have come up with two things to compare, then you need to find at least 3 points of comparison, you can do more than 3 if your subject has many comparisons. You should research the comparisons and use facts, graphs, and other things that can captivate everyone who will read it. You need to have an introduction, 3 paragraphs, and then a conclusion. The 3 body paragraphs should be the 3 main points of comparison, one comparison for each paragraph. Make sure that your conclusion raps up everything that you talked about throughout your essay and end it well. Your paper should make the readers want to read more, it should entice them to keep going and learn more. Learning to write a comparative essay is an important skill that everyone will eventually have to learn and it is very helpful to know how to do it well.
